"Perhaps if we weren't so poor..." Holy schmitt. See Bob's capper of all sickenining vanities of a my space page (you SO un rock dude) or ask Raleigh's fam dam for some dough. Or when all else fails...the comedy of irony. Maybe Van Stoned will earn enough to feed all the hungry mouths with the fake rock of a bunch of fake rockers. Uggh. Wanted to like...can't like. Thought it all might be different from the contrived self-awareness of Soulcracker, but...
wait a second... contrived self-awareness? what the f**k could i possibly mean by that? could there be a difference between contrived self-awareness and authentic self-awareness? i mean, if you're contrived you are self-aware and if you're self-aware then you're in the process of contriving yourself, right? right.
oh yeah . . . and about the whole money thing . . . i guess its pretty respectable that these guys DON'T ask for money from their families, and make their own ways in the world as carpenters and waiters and whatever else will pay the bills AND afford money for the band. i mean it's not like they get paid to play, and they offer their music COMPLETELY FOR FREE!! i guess that's actually pretty cool.
i should probably just stick to being the best, most authentically contrived drummer in the greater plano, texas area, and stop trying to sound smart. . .
you know, i've been listening to these ragsy songs while posting this, and i feel like i want to stop being such a douche-bag now. i want to love people and be loved. that's all i want.
i'm sorry guys, nevermind this message.
love, george bush

Contrived- clever rather than honest artificial and difficult to believe
the power of tv, indeed
great that you had another opportunity to remind us...oh yeah...that's where i first saw bob...now he's a "reality tv casualty"
i actually came here because a distant friend and fellow soulcracker fan told me about your various new projects and i was psyched. i f**king loved soulcracker for years. seen you many many times. i am no hater.
ran into you (bob) a coupla years ago and you were a jackass. pretentious in word and manner and obviously feeling too big for the room. it was sad and confusing to many. soulcracker was already over by then and people just wanted to know "what next?" you were vamping full on in your tv "we're punk rock AND college educated AND pedigreed AND quite the film buffs" type of thing and it was yucky because you already had them at hello. they had known you for years and knew that you were certainly not punk rock or unusually intellegent (sp?). just a f**kin great drummer capable of playing many styles and lucky enough to be teamed up with an amazing and charismatic songwriter.
i am actually on tour right now (not a drummer) but i won't use your board to describe the details.
self-awareness can be contrived when it is created for the audience rather than discovered or pursued without vanity by its host. just as an example, one might come to perceive himself as an intellegent (sp?) ROCK dude reality tv casualty after deciding that that's who he would like to be perceived as and working hard, maybe even on a subconscious level, to project that image for any given length of time when in all REALITY he is just a drummer in an unfortunate ska/funk/calypso/dance/semi-rocking and undefinably cool band that never really made it (or had absolutely anything to do with punk/hard rock) in spite of bucket loads of talent and a golden opportunity on television.
these ragsy demos do sound awsomely rockin btw.
lighten up dude. lotsa a folks love ya.
i think i will go ahead and f**k off now.

Hey, Sutton and Bob. I discovered Soulcracker through random Napster browsing when I lived in Japan and bought 3 of your CDs after you broke up. Searching around for what you're doing now brought me here. Keep up the good work.
Is there any chance someone has a copy of Beyond Seven and/or 5.5 lying around?

I'm listening to Beyond 7 right now! A really nice man named Chris (also known as Skewy) sent it to me for my birthday many years ago. Best birthday present I ever got.

Boys and lady girl girl boys
Iam a man who was Known as Mike Swenson. I am now Mike Young. I am in Greenville, SC opening a new browser (i"m on your my space page listening to "pull your body through?" i think?) and I'm thinking about a coupla things. I can't spell or use proper punctuation. Sutton once said to me " I insist that you sleep in my bed tonight. I will sleep on the couch. My roomate is a Bacardi rep." I once talked to Bob in Tempe the day after I saw Juliana Hatfield and we( Robert Hamel and I for you fkkn ingles ensenados) drank afternoon beers and discussed how f**king RAD that first Juliana Hatfield record was. I tried to hump many girlfriends of Soul Cracker, individually and collectively and was, surprisingly, at times, succsessful. I met Kelly on the beach (ghettO B) while playing frisbee with drunken flip-flop Sutton on a weekday afternoon. She was fkkn fabuloso. I did not hump her, or try to. I may have tried to hump Sutton. Or Bob. Certainly Beastie. I also absof**kly love Kevin Shields, Black Francis (yeah I know), Evan Dando, Robert Pollard, Sarah McClacahalacacalahan, Xeeeen, Chloe Webb as Nancy, Black Boys on Mopeds, smiling Mick Jones, Hum (You'd Prefer an Astronaut), Belly and Kelly not knowing me walking down Bacon, so nice, with a random drunk frien d of Sutty's. Hope all is well for all of you. You folks kick butt.
